the
first most important lesson i’ve learned in high school is to always be
prepared. of course, sometimes it’s difficult to always be on top of things
especially when taking into consideration things such as not everyone has the
best home life, etc. however, when possible, it’s extremely important to keep
up with your work and not fall behind. high school is a big deceiving of this
because teachers are so forgiving and accept things late, but this is not the
case for the majority of college professors.
the second most important lesson
i’ve learned is when you need help, seek help. though the statement “there is
no such thing as a stupid question” isn’t always necessarily true, if you don’t
understand a concept, it is so important to ask. some students shy away from
asking for help in fear of being judged by a teacher or another peer, but when
you think about it, would you rather get out of your comfort zone and ask, or
would you rather be penalized for not knowing something you could have very
easily asked about? in college, students are very encouraged to take advantage
of office hours so they do not fall behind and be confused on the coursework.
the last most important thing i’ve learned in high school is to always stick
true to yourself and be who you really are. conformity isn’t always the best
choice, despite it feeling like the only choice, and vice versa. a lot of the
time, people are appreciated for their flaws and differences, so be yourself.
