bob ross

bob ross impacted the world of art. after serving in the military, bob ross decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life being happy and doing things he loved, so he started painting. he started his own tv show called “the joy of paintings” where he gave tutorials on how to do wet-on-wet oil paintings (the person who invented the wet-on-wet technique actually taught ross, and now claims that ross can do it better than him). prior to bob ross' tv show that gave tutorials on his work, oil painting was considered to be a very difficult and complicated process that took days or even weeks to complete, and only professional artists would use oil paints. ross, however, simplified the process of oil painting but still came out with outstanding results. his method is creating simple techniques by layering colors to make the painting look more complex. bob ross never sold his paintings – they were always donated. instead, he made his money by having his own line of art supplies.

not only is bob ross known for his paintings and artwork alone, but he is recognized for the things he says during his painting tutorials. he gives off a feel of relaxation and subtleness. ross truly believed that you couldn’t mess up a painting – if he or someone else did something “wrong” on a painting, he called it a “happy accident.” his method of teaching was really trying to connect the painter with their painting, and to help keep people calm and not frustrated when painting.

this article talks about three diets the 2015 dietary guidelines deemed healthiest. this includes the healthy american diet, the mediterranean diet, and the vegetarian diet. the healthy american diet is the basic, standard, ideal american diet with a balance from all food groups. the mediterranean diet is much like the healthy american diet, but lessens the dairy and ups the protein. the vegetarian diet, unlike the previous two, includes no meat products.
Image result for mediterranean diet i’m very interested in diet and nutrition – i love reading about new diets becoming popular. these, to me, aren’t diets, but they are more of life styles. you’re choosing to put better and beneficial thing into your body. previous to this article, i really had never heard of the mediterranean diet. the most fascinating diets for me to learn about are vegan or plant-based diets. i’ve heard of some people who follow a strict raw vegan diet, meaning they only ever consume raw fruits and vegetable, raw nuts and seeds, and seasonings. you could only imagine how healthy those people are.
i feel that sometimes, it’s very easy to forget about eating clean and taking care of yourself. often when you’re in a rush, you’ll grab something quickly which usually isn’t a very healthy option. i really wish as a society we would put more importance on eating right and not putting bad things into your body because i feel as if it’s very quickly pushed outside and not a priority. after all, you are what you eat, and the majority of us don’t realize the damage a lot of the foods we eat can cause us.

new year's resolution

2015 as a whole was a pretty good year. what really helped it start as a good year was actually following my new year's resolution and that overall kept my year guided well. though there were bumps in the road, i didn't let anything get me down too much.
Image result for 2016a few weeks before 2016, i tried to think of a new year's resolution but i couldn't decide on just one. my main focus is hard to explain. essentially, i want to become the best "me" i can. sometimes, i don't try new things/try to accomplish things because i feel as if i'm unable to. i, for some reason, believe i would not be able to complete (x) task, so i avoid it. this year, i want to get out of my comfort zone and not only prove to others that i can be great, but mostly for myself. this is basically a huge step for me to get myself out of the habit of looking negatively about myself, and telling myself that i'll be capable of anything if i set my mind to it.
this goal is important to (as i said earlier) because i'm tired of letting myself put myself down for whatever reason. deep down i know i can do something, and now, i'm actually going to do it. the biggest obstacle i know i'll face during this is not the desire to get out of my comfort zone, but pushing myself into believing that i am good and that i am enough. this is something i need to teach myself, because i've struggled with it before in the past and still to this day. i don't know exactly how i will overcome these negative thoughts, but i will push through. i kept to my new year's resolution from last year, and i intend to do this same now and forever. i think this will be an amazing benefit to me because i'll have a lot of confidence that i didn't previously have.
